Ayers Rock

Uluru, or Ayers Rock, is a massive sandstone monolith in the heart of the Northern Territory. The nearest large town is Alice Springs, 450km away. You may fly straight to Ayers rock if the long drive is too daunting. Uluru is sacred to indigenous Australians and is thought to have started forming around 550 million years ago. It’s within Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, which also includes the 36 red-rock domes of the Kata Tjuta (or the “The Olgas”) formation. (Information extracted from Wikipedia)

The months of June to July are coolest as its winter in Australia. Star trails are a possibility and there are organised outings on how to identify the constellations of the Milky Way. Elevation: 863 m
