About 40km from the Myanmar border, the village of Chiang Dao is about a 3 hour winding drive from Chiangmai. The Crested Kingfisher has been sighted since early 2018 but there are no guaranteed times or locations when it will appear. Even more unpredictable is the presence of rain (very wet in September). The villagers want more tourists to visit the village. But the forests have an eerie silence. Most of the wildlife has been exterminated with the use of guns and catapults. Only managed to photograph it on the first day. The other two days, intermittent downpour washed away our hopes
