PARROTS OF SINGAPORE

There are three native species :-
Blue-rumped Parrot (Psittinus cyanurus),
Long-tailed Parakeet (Psittacula longicauda) and
the Blue-crowned hanging Parrot (Loriculus galgulus)

Long-tailed Parakeets (SBG) feasting on the fruits of Magnolia champaca at Fragrance Garden and on starfruits at Windsor Park.

Monk Parakeets (Faber Heights) feasting on fruits of Simpoh Air. An introduced species.

Blue-crowned Hanging Parrots (Bukit Merah) helping themselves to mangoes at the roadside tree. Only the female has a blue crown.

Blue-rumped Parrot at Fragrance Garden, SBG. Males have red bills with brown lower jaw. Females have a brown bill.
