Tim Dinh was our guide. We arrived at Ho Chi Minh city and travel by car to Tan Phu, 150km to the north for the Bar-bellied, Blue-rumped Pitta and Germain Peacock Pheasant. The maze of motorcycles never failed to fascinate. And then to Dilinh for the Indochinese Green Magpie and Black-headed Parrotbill. At Dalat Plateau we looked for Orange-breasted Laughingthrush, Short-tailed Scimitar Babbler, Grey-bellied Tesia, Blue Pitta, Rusty-naped Pitta, Spotted Forktail and Large Niltava. Dalat had the air of a French past and weather there was much cooler. The best roast duck was a roadside stall in Dalat (way much better than our Michellin star hawker).
The Blue-rumped and Bar Bellied Pittas were skittish. The Indochinese Green Magpie was such a delight to photograph. The pair of Blue Pittas were the closest that I had come across.
