The migrant Common Kingfisher. The colder weathers overseas signal the arrival of the Common Kingfisher to our waterways where they will stay for the next 3-5 months.






The waters of Singapore Quarry are well stocked with Tilapias, Snake heads and other smaller local fishes. Introduced kois are no longer seen since the visits by otters. Arrowanas are still present. Smaller Tilapias are often the fish of choice of the Stork-billed Kingfishers






The resident White-throated Kingfishers fishes rather differently from the above two. It prefers to snatch fishes from the water surface; keeping itself dry.
